Transdev, in partnership with Nottingham City Transport (NCT), operates and maintains Nottingham's tram system, Nottingham Express Transit (NET). Transdev is also a partner in Arrow, the concessionaire company which designed and built the tram.
Transdev is the recognised world leader in tram operation. In addition to the UK, it runs 400 trams on networks in France, Portugal and Australia. The combined skills and extensive experience of Transdev and NCT provide the people of Nottingham with a world-class service. The 15 modern trams, operated by the partners on the Nottingham system from spring 2004, carry up to 11 million passengers a year, taking up to two million car journeys off the road.
One of the key benefits of the tram is its links with other transport in the city. The 14km line includes five park and ride stops with capacity for more than 3,000 cars, as well as bus and main line rail interchanges. The trams have 90 Tram Crew members, each with joint responsibilities as a driver and conductor. NET is the first tram system in the country to go into service with conductors, having responded to passengers' preference for conductors instead of a machine-based ticket system.
Transdev is also a shareholding partner with the local authority in Nottingham City Transport, whose buses complement the tram system to help provide a genuinely integrated public transport system in the city.
