EURAILCO

EuRailCo is a unique partnership designed to bring the best skills and expertise to rail networks throughout Europe.

The partnership combines the huge experience of Transdev and RATP Developpement, two renowned transport operators that run more than 100 tram, rail and bus networks worldwide. The two operators have between them a fleet of 1,100 heavy rail vehicles, 3,500 Metro cars, more than 550 trams and a bus fleet of well over 11,000.

With a combined workforce of 55,000 highly skilled staff, the partners in EuRailCo have attracted international attention for their ability to work in partnership with local government and authorities to create innovative transport systems.

The Company has experience of many different working relationships: as a minority stakeholder in a local government/authority owned company; through public-private partnership; and as a franchise operator. The key has been to design a partnership that suits a particular area's transport needs, rather than provide “off-the-shelf” solutions. In Germany, EuRailCo has acquired a majority 75% stake in train operator Trans Regio from Rheinbahn, the Düsseldorf transport company, to develop rail services in the German market.

An example of the innovative thinking of EuRailCo's partners is the Paris multi-modal interchange at La Defense, which is used by 420,000 passengers each day and comprises a line of the RER, one line of the Metro and tram networks, three suburban train routes and 15 bus routes. EuRailCo is also strengthened by the experience gained by the two partners in running the following systems:

• 6 integrated bus and light rail systems in Paris, Nantes, Grenoble, Strasbourg, Montpellier and Orleans
• A light Metro system in Oporto integrated with local train and bus services
• A tram system in Melbourne integrated with urban train and bus services
• An integrated bus and automated light rail Metro in Toulouse
