Bournemouth Transport Ltd was acquired by Transdev in late 2005.

Bournemouth Transport Ltd operates bus services in the Bournemouth area – which trade under the name of Yellow Buses - and National Express coach services. With a fleet of 14 coaches and more than 100 buses, the Company carries in the region of 10 million passengers per year. Offering an extensive network of routes, Yellow Buses demonstrates a major presence in the Bournemouth, Poole and Christchurch area – a fast-growing urban area with a population of over 350,000.

Bournemouth Transport Ltd is over 100 years old, having commenced trading in 1902 as Bournemouth Corporation Tramways, its longevity showing the successful and robust nature of the Company and the strong brand recognition in the area that Yellow Buses enjoys.

Yellow Buses is well renowned locally for its links with, and support for, local initiatives and partners and this has firmly cemented Yellow Buses' relationship with the communities it serves.

Post-acquisition, Transdev is working to bring its skills, knowledge and best practice to Yellow Buses services. In 2006 the Company rebranded under the Transdev Yellow Buses brand and relocated to a new £8.9 million depot, accommodating up to 150 vehicles, which has enabled further improvements in service delivery.

In line with its ethos of stakeholder involvement and partnership, Transdev has offered the local Council a continuing interest in the Company with a seat on the Bournemouth Transport Ltd Board.
