Transdev celebrates success at UK Bus Awards16 November 2009
Following an impressive starting line-up of seven short-listed entries Transdev is celebrating today after picking up two award wins and two runners up certificates at the 2009 UK Bus Awards. Yellow Buses continued its winning streak from last year by taking the coveted ‘Shire Operator of the Year’ award, beating off fellow Transdev companies, Burnley & Pendle and Yorkshire Coastliner as well as Stagecoach. Yellow Buses’ head of operations, Ed Wills, was runner up for the ‘Young Manager of the Year’ award.
Nottingham City Transport, in which Transdev is a partner, beat off tough competition from five other entries to take the ‘Winning New Customers’ award. Transdev London’s Kevin West, based at Hounslow garage, was runner up as ‘Top London Driver’.
Nigel Stevens, chief executive of Transdev plc commented, “It is good to see the successes of our operating companies, and of our staff, recognized at this highly prestigious industry event. This demonstrates that our reputation for delivering high quality services to our customers is well deserved.”
The UK Bus Awards was hosted by BBC economics editor Stephanie Flanders at the London Hilton on Thursday 13 November in front of an audience of 650 bus industry representatives. The purpose of the UK Bus Awards is to recognise, reward and inspire whilst encouraging and promoting best practice in the bus industry. It attracted some 210 entries this year, the highest ever! Transdev has been short-listed every year since first entering in 2002, picking up many awards and commendations.
