New Glo Smartcard goes live across Yellow Buses' Network

NEW smartcards designed to make bus travel easier and quicker have gone ‘live’ on Transdev Yellow Buses (TYB).

The Glo card has already been successfully trialled on the bus company’s route 3 but has now been extended across the entire network.

The swipe card replaces the phased out Yellow Cards and is similar in concept to the popular Oyster card in London.

Once received passengers need to add a seven, 30 or 90 day value to the card.

They can ‘top up’ the value at one of over 80 Paypoint outlets across TYB’s network area, at the company’s office in Bournemouth Square or – for seven day travel – on the bus itself.

There is no change to single, return and one day tickets.

The introduction of Glo cards follows the installation of new electronic ticketing machines on TYB’s 110-strong bus fleet.

They are expected to lead to faster boarding, greener ticketing - with one card topped up again and again - and more convenience for passengers.

Jenni Wilkinson, TYB’s Head of Marketing, described the Glo cards – which can be personalised as “quick, reliable and secure.”

“They will make travelling with the ‘Yellows’ even easier,” she added.

Glo smartcards, including Glo 17 for those under 18, are available free on request.
